Brittany Donaldson

Instructional Coach and Early Childhood Literacy Specialist

Brittany Donaldson earned her bachelor’s degree in Psychology with a minor in Sociology from Texas Christian University (TCU). Additionally, she holds a Master of Arts in Teaching and a Master of Education from Westminster College. Brittany holds many educational endorsements in working with Multilingual Learners, Coaching, and Early Literacy.

Brittany began her teaching career 18 years ago as a first- and second-grade teacher. She taught for seven years before moving into academic coaching. After working with her student teacher, she recognized that supporting teachers in their work and helping them grow was something she enjoyed and was passionate about. Brittany began coaching teachers as an on-site literacy coach in Granite School District in 2015 and worked exclusively in highly impacted, Title I schools. Brittany has coached teachers for 11 years in various capacities, but most of her work has focused on early literacy and reading intervention.

In 2021, Brittany left coaching to become a district reading interventionist for Granite School District and worked with struggling readers in diverse populations. Following her time as a district reading specialist, she returned to coaching as a state literacy coach, where she helped teachers mainstream evidence-based reading instruction into their classrooms and supported teachers in creating, implementing, and tracking data-driven reading interventions for students who needed extra support.

This is Brittany’s second year at Elizabeth Academy. She is very excited to work as an Instructional Coach this year, broadening her focus and supporting all teachers and interventionists. Additionally, Brittany will provide literacy intervention for students in the Early Childhood classes to streamline the Early Identification process for students who need extra support in building their early literacy skills.

Brittany enjoys paddle boarding, gardening, playing the piano, and swimming laps. She is an avid reader and considers herself to be a lifelong learner. She and her husband also love to travel and spend time with their three grown children and two pugs.
