Encouraging Early Exploration
Our toddler classrooms provide a safe and nurturing environment that encourages exploration and allows for freedom of movement. Children will gain practical life skills while developing and improving speech, language, and motor skills. They will learn social skills and how to apply them in their interactions with other children. Toilet training is also part of the curriculum. Elizabeth Academy’s Montessori curriculum for toddlers encourages curiosity, self-confidence, respect for self and others, and independence.

Montessori Method
Trained teachers guide each child to progress at his or her own pace in the areas of:
- Curiosity
- Self-confidence
- Respect for self & others
- Independence
Our priority is to provide the best experience we can to each child. We strongly believe that our staff’s efforts should be focused on their Montessori classroom and students during the school day. Our toddler program follows the Elizabeth Academy school year calendar. Classes start at the end of August and continue until the end of May each year. The school day begins at 8:30 am and ends at 3:30 pm with an early release on Fridays at 12:45 pm.
Language & Communication
The most important language materials for toddlers are the materials and experiences in their environment. Our teachers reinforce the importance of verbal communication by speaking clearly and supporting the child’s expanding vocabulary throughout the day.
Sensory Development
Working with sensorial materials, the children develop their senses and the organization and patterning skills essential to math and language concepts. This fosters intellectual development and builds a foundation for academic learning. Children also become more aware of themselves and the world around them.
Practical Life Skills
Practical life activities like sorting, matching, pouring, scooping, zipping, buttoning, and snapping give children the self-care skills to become independent and confident. They also strengthen fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, and concentration.
