Kat is excited to be teaching Upper Elementary this year and is celebrating her 10th year at Elizabeth Academy! Originally from Nürnberg, Germany, she moved to the United States in 2003. She holds a Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instructional Design and is an experiential educator at heart. She also spent eight years living in Thailand and Malaysia, where she discovered her love of language learning and teaching, and deepened her passion for experiential education.
Kat loves creating meaningful, hands-on learning experiences that connect students to the world around them. She is especially passionate about project-based learning, including filmmaking, farm-to-table projects, microeconomy, and service learning. She also loves creating opportunities for community building, youth leadership and personal development, and peace education.
Outside of school, Kat loves being in nature and the outdoors, camping, spending time with her dogs, dancing, crafting things, and exploring new places and cultures. She believes some of the best learning happens when curiosity leads the way and students have the opportunity to create, explore, connect with others, and experience the world for themselves.
