Sam Gines

STEM

Sam is looking forward to getting to know everyone throughout this year. If students and co-teachers could know just one thing about Sam, it would be that she is a HUGE advocate for mental health and taking care of ourselves, as well as each other. Sam studied Psychology with an emphasis on Positive Psychology at the University of Utah. She has worked in various settings with teens and individuals with intellectual disabilities, including after-school programs, supported living, and has volunteered with the University of Utah Special Olympics team for over five years.

Sam loves being outside as much as possible, taking her dog on walks, hiking, and snowboarding. She enjoys learning new hobbies and improving her skills. Currently, she is engaged in learning yoga, rock climbing, and pickleball, but she loves being active in many ways. Sam sees herself as a never-ending learner and plans to continue her education in the psychology field. She is a fierce advocate for those who are perceived as “different,” based on personal experience. Her goal is for everyone she interacts with to feel uplifted and to understand their importance.

Hear From Our Community

I especially appreciate the school’s focus on the whole child, which includes social skills development, in vivo problem-solving, community and service experiences, the arts, and practical living skills among so many other things! Most importantly, our children LOVE their school and literally gush about it anytime someone asks them.

Words cannot express the respect and gratitude I have for Elizabeth Academy. Our children’s experience (six years thus far) at both schools has been outstanding.

Our girls have attended Elizabeth Academy for six years now, and we can’t imagine sending them anywhere else for school. The individual attention and caring, collaborative environment at EA have been so good for both of them and we love the holistic Montessori approach to education. We also greatly appreciate all the efforts of the administration and teachers to provide our girls the ability to go to school safely during the pandemic. It has been a lifesaver for our family.
