Jessica Ruud - early childhood Teacher (classroom 1)

Jessica completed her Master of Education degree and Montessori AMS Early Childhood credential through the Institute for Montessori Innovation at Westminster College. She also has a Bachelor of Science in Early Elementary Education from the University of Utah. Jessica has been an Early Childhood teacher at Elizabeth Academy since 2012. Prior to joining the Elizabeth Academy staff, Jessica was an Early Childhood teacher at Dancing Moose Montessori School.

In her free time, Jessica loves camping, Zumba, reading, photography, traveling (particularly to the Oregon Coast), and writing.

Sonia Jin - early childhood teacher (classroom 1)

Sonia has a degree from the College of Humanities & Sciences of Northeast Normal University in China as well as in Early Childhood Education. She is a current student and Assistant to the Director and Teaching Researcher of Weiming Montessori Education Centre. She is hold several certifications from China including Kindergarten Head, Kindergarten Teacher Qualification, Montessori Intermediate Teacher Certificate (China), and Intermediate Baby Care Teacher. Sonia is joining Elizabeth Academy this year to complete her internship by supporting our Early Childhood Classroom.

Jasmine has experience working with children 5 years old and younger. Before coming to teach at Elizabeth Academy in 2019 she worked at Buttons and Bows for two years as a lead teacher with the 2 year olds and 3-4 year olds. She has worked at Upstart, an early childhood readiness program where she helped parents and children get ready for kindergarten using an online program. She has also worked at St. John’s Child Development Center with the 4-5 year olds as an assistant teacher.

Jasmine was born and raised in Salt Lake City.

Shauna Tuiono - early childhood teacher (classroom 2)

Shauna earned her Bachelor’s Degree from Brigham Young University in Geology. I attended Westminster College earning my Montessori teaching credential in 2014. Shauna has been teaching at Elizabeth Academy since 2012.

She has a husband (David) and an adult son. She loves the outdoors, hiking and snowshoeing. At home, she can be found in the kitchen making meals from scratch for her familiy.

Emillie wright - early childhood teacher (classroom 2)

Emillie earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Utah State University and is currently working towards completing her Montessori Credential. She has been working in the Montessori environment since 2014 and is excited to be starting at Elizabeth Academy for the 2019-2020 school year.

She has a husband (Andrew) and a three year old attending Elizabeth Academy. She enjoys playing sports, reading, singing, and sewing.

Laura Kinmont - Early Childhood Teacher (Classroom 3)

Laura has 10 years’ experience in Montessori classrooms, and 6 years teaching at the Early Childhood level. She has a Bachelor’s Degree from Tomas Edison University.  Presently, she is a graduate student working towards an MED at Westminster College. Laura completed her Montessori Early Childhood credential through the Institute for Guided Studies which is MEPI accredited. Laura is also certified for Elementary I (6-9). She is a Montessori Early Childhood Instructor with the Institute for Guided Studies, and enjoys the opportunity to mentor and train adult students as they gain an understanding of the Montessori way. 

Laura and her husband are empty nesters and have raised three sons.  In her free time, she loves biking, landscape design, singing, swimming, hiking and traveling as a family.

Mara graduated from Westminster College, with a Bachelor’s Degree in Educational Studies and Special Education in May 2019. She minored in Outdoor Education and Leadership. Before coming to Elizabeth Academy Mara has worked with children and adults with special needs at summer camps, a school for children with Autism, and two Montessori schools. She has also coached gymnastics. In 2018 she worked with Special Olympics Utah as a track and field coach for young adults at Hartvgsen School.

In her free time you will likely find her outside doing one of the following: running, skiing, hiking or biking. She also loves to cook and try out new recipes. She has lived in Rhode Island, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, Texas and Utah.

Sarah Hansen - Early Childhood Teacher (Classroom 3)

Sarah is currently completing her higher education at Westminster College majoring in Elementary Education and a minoring in Early Childhood Montessori Education. The 2019-2020 school year is her first year here at Elizabeth Academy.

Sarah was born and raised in Utah. She loves living in a place where it feels like the mountains are giving her a hug. She is the oldest of four children and family bonds mean a lot to her. She is an avid reader of fantasy and sci-fi, loves to watch the Food Network and sometimes try her hand at baking. She loves animals, especially her cat Edmund.

Teresa has a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Utah. She has four years of experience working as a paraeducator for the Granite school district. She will be supporting the infant, toddler, and early childhood classrooms.

She is a mother of four kids and she is also a foster parent. She enjoys hiking and camping with her family. She likes to use her free time to be creative and crafty.

Jessica has a Master of Education degree from Westminster College and a Bachelor degree in Theatre Arts/Dance with a minor in Teaching English from Southern Utah University. She completed her Montessori Early Childhood credential at Dayspring Education Center in St. George, Utah and has been an early childhood teacher since 1999. Jessica also works as an adjunct professor for Westminster College’s Institute for Montessori Innovation, helping to train the next generation of Montessori teachers. She has also enjoyed teaching ballet to students of all ages.

Jessica was raised in St. George, Utah and has two children, a fabulous husband, and two energetic cats. She loves dancing, attending the theater, reading books of all sorts, nature and sunsets.

Cami Johnston has a Bachelors in Interdisciplinary Studies (which is a dual bachelor's in Special Ed K-12 and Elementary Ed K-6) from Western Governor's University and teaching licenses in Special Education and Elementary Education. She completed her AMS Early Childhood Montessori Credential through  the Institute of Montessori Innovation at Westminster College.

Cami began her Montessori teaching in a Toddler classroom at Montessori at Riverton.  Prior to joining the Elizabeth Academy staff, Cami was a lead teacher in an Early Childhood Classroom for two years.  

Cami enjoys spending time with her husband Dallin and three energetic sons.

Teresa Noble - montessori early childhood program advisor

Teresa holds a Bachelor of Arts in Early Childhood Education and a Master of Education in Special Education from the University of South Carolina.  Her Montessori Early Childhood credential was granted by Montessori Education Programs, International.  She is retired from the public schools of South Carolina, with 28 years of service.  Teresa has designed language materials for Alison's Montessori, a Montessori materials company.  She consults with Alison's, evaluating, and designing Early Childhood materials.  She serves as Program Director, Instructor, and Supervisor for The Institute for Guided Studies, headquartered in Camden, SC and is currently serving on the Board of Directors of The Montessori Accreditation Council for Teacher Education.  She provides private consulting for Early Childhood and Primary Montessori institutions.

Lauren Kurt has a Master of Science degree in speech-language pathology from the University of Utah and Bachelor of Arts in Communication Sciences and disorders from the University of Northern Iowa, with an emphasis on American Sign Language. She has clinical experience working with children in the Granite School District, Ensign Elementary School, St Francis Xavier School, the University of Utah and the University of Northern Iowa.

Scott has a Bachelor of Science in Music Therapy from Utah State University.  Scott is also a board certified Neurologic Music Therapist and has completed training which emphasizes the effect of music on the brain and how it impacts cognitive, communication, and sensorimotor processes.

He previously worked at Harmony Music Therapy, where he provided music therapy services in Salt Lake and Davis Counties. His experience includes music therapy service provision at the University Neuropsychiatric Institute and at Meaningful Day Services in Indianapolis, Indiana where he worked with individuals with mild to severe disabilities including: intellectual disability, autism, traumatic brain injury, cerebral palsy, down syndrome, apraxia with aphasia, communication delay, obsessive compulsive disorder, anxiety, depression, alopecia, blindness, seizures, pervasive developmental disorder, hearing impairment, and Bi-Polar disorder, ages 8-50.

Patrice mcqueen - occupational therapy

Patrice has a Master’s Degree in Occupational Therapy from Texas Tech University Health Science Center and a Bachelor of Science in Human Development and Family Studies from Texas Tech University. She has worked as an Occupational Therapist at a private sensory clinic and for Children’s Health in Dallas, Texas. 

She enjoys hiking, camping, and playing volleyball with her husband and son.
